About the Role
You will play a key role in shaping our company’s position in 3GPP standardization and driving innovation for 6G and next‑generation radio networks. As part of our Standards and Research team, you will influence global wireless technology evolution by developing technical proposals, defending company IPR, and steering discussions within 3GPP RAN1. You will work closely with internal R&D teams and external research partners to ensure alignment between standardization strategy and long‑term technology development.
Our team is responsible for generating and evaluating innovative ideas for future radio networks, contributing to 3GPP standardization of current (5G) and future systems, and shaping our IPR strategy. We monitor standardization trends, coordinate internal research activities, and collaborate with universities and external partners on emerging concepts with potential impact on next‑generation radio access technologies.
While the team spans multiple functional layers and 3GPP workgroups, this position focuses on the physical layer and the functionality addressed within 3GPP RAN1.
Key Responsibilities
· Drive company strategy in 3GPP RAN1 standardization meetings, shaping proposals, influencing discussions, and defending company IPR.
· Identify, evaluate, and promote innovative concepts relevant to 6G and next‑generation radio access technologies.
· Develop, present, and negotiate technical contributions aligned with internal research and product strategies.
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with delegates from other companies to support constructive collaboration and strategic influence.
· Follow standardization progress and communicate insights to internal R&D teams.
· Coordinate with internal research groups to ensure alignment between standardization needs and ongoing technical development.
· Explore and manage collaborations with universities and external research partners.
Qualifications & Experience
· 8–10+ years of active 3GPP RAN1 participation with a strong record of technical contributions and influence.
· Leadership experience in 3GPP - rapporteur, feature lead, or equivalent responsibility for major Work Items or Study Items is a significant advantage.
· Demonstrated impact on IPR‑driven standardization, including defending company IPR and navigating competing interests.
· Exposure to 6G research and familiarity with emerging physical‑layer concepts.
· Experience in innovation and patent generation is a strong plus.
· Experience collaborating with internal R&D and external partners, including universities.
· Advanced degree in wireless communications or a related field (PhD preferred; MSc with extensive standardization experience considered).

· Strong strategic acumen - able to anticipate standardization dynamics and position proposals effectively.
· Excellent relationship‑building skills - capable of forming productive alliances with delegates from other companies.
· Deep understanding of stakeholder dynamics within standardization bodies and the ability to navigate complex multi‑stakeholder environments.
· Clear and persuasive communication - skilled at presenting, defending, and negotiating technical positions.
· Independent and proactive working style with strong internal coordination skills.
· Collaborative mindset - comfortable working across multiple functional layers and workgroups.
· Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
The position is based in our Lund, Sweden office. For particularly strong candidates, placement in another major European city where we have a presence may be considered.
