About the company
Founded in 1988, Huawei Technologies is one of the fastest growing telecommunications and network solutions providers in the world. At Huawei Technologies, we look for people who share our vision: to enrich life with communication. We are a leading supplier of next generation telecom networks and currently serve 37 of the world’s top 50 operators. Our people are committed to providing innovative products, services and solutions and understand it as their mission to create long-term value and growth potential for our clients.
The Huawei office in Sweden is the leading overseas R&D office in Huawei, and the Wireless Algorithm group at Huawei Sweden drives innovation for the Huawei Wireless RAN product. We work on both advanced receivers and on Radio Resource Management algorithms, for both LTE and 5G.
Thesis description
For simultaneous high data-rate communication towards multiple users, base-stations (BS) equipped with large antenna-array perform data precoding. In 5G terminology, this interference-avoiding transmission strategy is often referred as massive multi-input multi-output (M-MIMO). Optimal M-MIMO data-precoding is based on an iterative algorithm requiring high-complexity and latency. Moreover, it is assumed that the high-dimensional input matrix (representing the wireless channel between BS-to-users) is error-free. However, there are inevitable non-idealities during the estimation and compression of the input. The complex nature of these non-idealities inhibits a straightforward extension of the classical algorithm. Neural network-based transmitter design is seen as a promising direction to address both the implementation efficiency and robustness against mentioned non-idealities. The thesis aims to solve these challenges with practical and generalizable neural architectures.
