About the Project: Modeling and Characterization of Power Semiconductor Devices
Department: Stockholm Small and Medium Power Laboratory
This project aims to advance the understanding and prediction of power semiconductor device behavior through modeling and experimental validation. You will work with state-of-the-art methods to analyze, design, and simulate devices with a focus on loss evaluation and predictive modeling.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Studying advanced mathematical and physical models of power semiconductor devices.
- Designing an experimental setup for accurate device loss evaluation and translating findings into simulation models.
- Developing neural-network models to predict losses based on experimental data.
- Documenting and presenting your methods, results, and insights.
Timeline
Given our current project schedules, we are looking for master’s students available to start in spring 2026.
Your Profile
- Background: Strong mathematical background and strong logical thinking. Strong programming skills, Python is a plus. Good theoretical understanding of power electronic converters is a plus.
- Communication: Strong command of English, both spoken and written.
- Team & Independence: Capable of working effectively both in teams and independently.
- Commitment to Quality: High attention to detail and dedication to producing high-quality work.
- Desirable Experience: Master’s degree student in an area related to Power Electronics or a similar subject. Experience in the field of power electronics (e.g., bachelor’s thesis, university projects, professional experience, lectures, etc.).
