1. Job Description (3GPP SA6 Standards Expert)

The position is for the 3GPP SA6 WG Standards Expert in the area of mission critical applications for Enterprise networks including public safety networks and vertical industries like V2X, Smart Factory. The goal is to develop leadership on research activities and standardization activities in 3GPP and related vertical industry standards.

2. Roles and Responsibilities

• Contribute towards technology advancement in the area of vertical industry applications including architecture and protocols.

• Contribute towards developing the intellectual property including IPRs.

• Participating and contributing towards standardization activities in 3GPP and other vertical standards bodies like 5GAA. Capable of handling technical leadership positions in the industry.

• Individual contributor role and requires excellent technical and communication skills. Coordination across various stakeholders including customers and industry liaisons.

• Industry co-operation activities with universities, societies, forums to support enterprise business marketing for vertical industries (e.g. public safety, V2X).

3. Profile

• 10-15 years of relevant industry technical research and standardization experience. (Education qualification: Bachelor/Master/Ph.D in Computer, Electronics or Telecommunications streams)

Strong experience in technology:

• 3GPP EPC and 5GC especially northbound APIs (SCEF/NEF), PC5, MBMS, Network slicing.

• Application and services architectures for Telecom and Web (including 3GPP IMS, Service Oriented Architectures, GSMA Voice/Video applications).

• SIP, HTTP, Real time communication protocols, Multimedia (Voice, Video, Data) streaming protocols and API frameworks (e.g. 3GPP CAPIF, OMA NetAPIs).

• Edge computing standards like ETSI MEC, ETSI NFV

Knowledge in one or more of the following domains:

• Mission critical services like MCPTT, MCVideo, MCData for Applications in Public safety, Railways, Maritime communications

• Atleast one or more vertical applications like V2X, Smart Factory, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAV), Healthcare

Strong experience in standardization:

• Technical standardization in 3GPP or other SDOs like ETSI, ITU, 5GAA

• Previously held positions for Editor, Rapporteur, Chair for technical standard groups is preferable.

• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
